The crystal clear water of Sky Lake reflected the sky like a mirror, the small waves shining the afternoon rays of the sun across the valley. Small shadows were moving about beneath the water's surface. The meadow around it rippled in the slight breeze coming from the gap between the islands and the mainland. The oaks and cedar trees spattering the hills stood tall and provided cool shade. Beneath the largest tree in the Sky Lake valley lay Huskyspark, her sky blue eyes cracked sleepily. She lazily watched the plants and small animals move around, the birds dipping down to the water to grab a quick drink.
Although her body may be resting, her mind was not. She was going over patrol plans for borders and hunting - the fresh kill pile was getting a bit on the small side. Plans on how to deal with the imminent threat of Dull Pack and Eastern Rock Pack were being thought over as well. Oakspark may be slightly insane, but he was not a wolf to underestimate. He was smart, and he was merciless. The other packs never knew when he would attack.
Leaping Treespirit dropped the prey off at the Stronghold, nodding a "you're welcome" at wolves who blinked in thanks. Heading out on his own, he went to take a lunch break.
He was glad he didn't have to take prey from the food pile. If he did, he would've felt somewhat guilty, as if he was stealing food from the young'uns. He silently thanked SparkPack for his plant powers, which came with the ability to photosynthesize. He would just need to find a good place to absorb sunlight.
Treespirit immediately headed for the Sky Lake, one of his favorite places to eat, relax, and enjoy the scenery. However, he froze in his tracks. Someone was already there.
It was Huskyspark.
Treespirit wasn't one to be intimidated so easily. In fact, he did most of the intimidating himself. But he was always somewhat wary around his alpha, and he was afraid that his rather formal way of addressing most wolves would come off as cold and distant. He usually wasn't one to care about that, but this was Huskyspark.
I am Leaping Treespirit, he told himself sternly. You don't care about what others think about you, remember? Even if that other is your leader. It would be rude to move away and pretending he'd not seen her. So he padded to her, keeping his steps natural, and carefully laid down beside her. His powers instantly started activating and began to take in the sun, while he could feel the nutrients from the soil start to become absorbed through his paws.
"All right, Huskyspark?" he asked, feeling more relaxed now that he was photosynthesizing.
Huskyspark did not notice Leaping Treespirit pad up to the tree she was laying beneath. She was too deep within her thoughts. As she was debating whether they should send a patrol to the East and take stock on how the Eastern Rock's numbers were at, or if they should have sentries at their border throughout night, the male biennial wolf began to speak to her.
"All right, Huskyspark?" he had said as he took in the sun's rays.
Lifting her head, Huskyspark turned and gazed at him with welcoming, azure eyes. She twitched her ears back and blinked in approval as she shifted to her shoulder to look at him more comfortably.
"Yes, thank you. How are you? Any troubles while out on the hunt?" she replied politely. She could smell the foliage of the hunting grounds on his mossy fur, and fresh blood on his breath. She also inquired to see how the prey was running on the main land. Sometimes prey migrated to the forest areas of the bordering packs.
"Yes, thank you," said Huskyspark, startling Treespirit slightly. "How are you? Any troubles while out on the hunt?"
"It was fine," he replied. "I must admit, it's been rather quiet for a while now. I do not know if that is a good thing... when it's too quiet someone might be plotting something. Unfortunately, I don't think we have a way of finding out. We'll just have to assume, but I would not rather give our enemies the benefit of the doubt. It's been something I've been mulling over," Leaping Treespirit admitted, "and I have really been meaning to ask you about this, even if it's not in my business. But I serve to protect the Pack, and I would like to hear your opinions. Are we to raise our shields?"
Huskyspark sighed, glancing over to Leaping Treespirit then back to the waving grass between them and the Sky Lake. It was such a beautiful day, yet Eastern Rock must always ruin nice things with thoughts of paranoia and fear. She hated that her pack had to suffer because of this. Sighing once more, the Northern Islands alpha turned to look her soldier in the eye.
"I will be honest with my pack members. I am nervous with Eastern Rock suddenly growing in size yet going quiet. I have a feeling that this is just the peace and tranquility that comes before a drastic storm, and I believe that it will be Oakspark who is controlling the strikes and torrents. We mustn't show any fear, but we must be prepared. That is what makes us strong enough to defeat Eastern Rock once more; that is what makes us Northern Islands wolves. We will prove to them time and time again that they are no match for our brawn, Southern Snow's brains, nor Western Sky's unity. The time to prove it once again is drawing nearer. And we will be ready for it."

Treespirit considered her words. How could she sound so confident? She is the leader, he reminded himself. After a pause, he said carefully, "yes, I agree. But Oakspark is not one to underestimate-- I think you know that quite well. He has most likely studied us. He has experience and failure to learn from, while we do not. Oakspark will likely change tactics, because obviously his first one-- or Chronospark's, should I say-- didn't work. We must watch carefully, and not make the first move, yes?"
Huskyspark nodded along to her soldier's words. "Yes," she agreed, "Bloodied Oakspark is the third generation of Fleshspark trained wolves. Chronospark was practically in love with the corpse brute, and would have made sure Oakspark was well trained in the art of slaughtering and large egos. Any time he is accused of sneaking about in the packs, he tries to bat his eyes and act innocuous. We mustn't fall for it. We need to figure out some way to find out his plans for the packs." she stated determinedly, then sighed.
"But how?" she asked herself aloud. "He knows all the wolves here on Compass Rose." She deliberated with her thoughts before continuing. "Perhaps we find a wolf from the continent above us, Thoria. The transport wolf Hydro was born there, and could take us to a pack. We could bring back three wolves, one for each of the other packs, but they would have to travel here to Northern Islands through Eagle Claw to discuss what their jobs would entail further. We should also have a member of the other packs here as well."
Determined with this plan, Huskyspark got to her paws and looked down at Leaping Treespirit. "Come, we need to gather the pack. I need to find the perfect wolves to search for our spies." she explained.

Welcome to Compass Ross Packs territories. These wolves are... different than those of Earth. They live in a different realm, and the only way in or out is through the Transport wolves.
What are these wolves, you ask? These wolves have magic on their fur and the elements in their blood. These wolves have power. But will they use them for good, or for evil? That is up to you.
