Name: Winterspark (♂)
Pack: Southern Snow
Hetero. Twenty-one. Cold powers.
Played by: Earth Hearted
✣ ✣ Appearance ✣ ✣
Winterspark is a large, lean white wolf with long, shaggy fur that is always cold to the touch. His eyes are a pale, frosty ice blue color, and he has bits of gray and blue on his face and body. Winterspark always has to work and move around to stay warm and keep his metabolism going; he is still a warm-blooded mammal, and needs to maintain a constant body heat, and over years of working out he has become extremely fit. He almost always has a stoic, expressionless no-nonsense look on his face, regardless of what's he's feeling.
✣ ✣ Personality ✣ ✣
Winterspark is extremely smart, and learns very quickly. He is willing to think out-of-the-box and try new ideas; whatever to help his Pack. This brings us to his second positive trait: loyalty. You can be assured that the Southern Snow will have their leader's loyalty 'till the end. Winterspark takes pride in serving his Clan everyday, and is a hugely patriotic soldier. He won't hear a bad word about Southern Snow, and if he does, it's usually met with his teeth and claws. However, Winterspark tries to be considerate for others, and tries to think in others' shoes; what would they feel if he did something that they didn't like? Is a fight really going to be necessary? How could he get wolves to like him? He has become more and more observant as he grows older, noticing things in other's words and in the everyday surroundings. He has grown to be a lot more mature and serious, and has started to control his angry outbursts and extremely competitive spirit. He is also very organized and always tries to think of a plan for the next day, so things have less of a chance of plunging into chaos. Over the moons, Winterspark has also developed a more confident personality, and his new leadership has spurred that on.
However, Winterspark has a tendency to taking things the wrong way, especially when a small comment was meant to be harmless. He still can be very judgmental of others, and disapproves of those who break the Pack laws. He can be extremely curt and abrupt when he wants to, especially to intimidate others. He has a harsh way of talking to wolves he doesn't like (it's very obvious when he doesn't like someone), and still has quite the short temper, though he tries to hide it. Winterspark can also become easily jealous of others, and this usually leads him to be really rude. He had developed a more bossy attitude towards others, which also leads to him being prim; he can seem extremely formal and stuck-up, and instantly disapproves of others who are rude ( sometimes he is, too). He can turn aggressive quite easily, especially when someone taunts him or his Pack/Packmates.
Winterspark doesn't really like to show his true emotions; he already is aware of his short fuse, and doesn't prefer to explode, because he doesn't want to ruin his image. He usually responds with an unhelpful message, to show that he "doesn't really care." However, when he does want to convey what he's feeling, he can be extremely brazen and honest, and this tends to scare younger wolves off. Although Winterspark can feel pity, he has a hard time showing it, as he's not exactly the wolf who provides the best comfort. He is very practical in his ways; he only does things if they benefit, and sometimes, he will cast everything else aside just to do something he feels is "important." Winterspark is also very matter-of-fact and down-to-earth; he doesn't try to dance around subjects, and gets right to the point. He can be easily annoyed, especially by wolves he doesn't like already. However, he doesn't try to take it out on them, so it doesn't show often. He is also quite neat, and doesn't like to seem messy, as he believes it will be bad for his image. Winterspark has also become more defensive and careful about everything, as experiences in life (such as meeting Fleshspark unexpectedly) has taught him to stay on his paw at all times.
Due to an unfortunate visit with Fleshspark in his earlier years, Winterspark has come to think that no one should be too dependent on anyone else (or anything else). He encourages wolves to be loyal to what they think they should be loyal to, and spends a lot of time trying to convince unsure wolves to be loyal to him and Southern Snow. However, he refuses to succumb to anything, and often is stubborn and won't listen to others' words if he thinks they're trying to persuade him to go the wrong way (although Fleshspark's words had an effect on him, he never fully followed what he said), which can be frustrating.

✣ ✣ History ✣ ✣
CHILDHOOD
Winterpup was born in a later litter, where he was the only surviving puppy (his sisters, Hopepup and Havenpup, were stillborns), and was named for the season he was born in. His parents cherished their youngest son, and watched him day after day, taking care of him and showering little Winterpup with attention. Of course, this annoyed his two older brothers, Thrushcub and Goldencub. They were about 10 moons older than him, and didn't appreciate their runty brother. However, Rosecub, their littermate and Winterpup's only sister, adored Winterpup. They became fast friends, as Rosecub didn't have many acquaintances of her own age. Rosecub, being a pupil, had duties to do and couldn't stay for long when she visited him in the nursery. As she became more and more busy, Winterpup saw less and less of her.
Then, on the day Thrushcub and Goldencub received their soldier names, Winterpup became a 'cub in the same ceremony, apprenticed to Rubbleclaw, who was a stern but friendly mentor. However, Rosecub ran away the week before the ceremony, and no one could find her at all. Thrushleap and Goldenfox, both whom disliked their sister from the start, simply dismissed this as one of Rosecub's "adventures," and reassured the rest of the Pack that she would return soon. Wintercub was devastated, but Thrushleap and Goldenfox did not step forward to help. He became somewhat depressed, as Rosecub had been the closest to a best friend, and lagged in his training. His denmates stopped talking to him, since he would never respond. He missed what was supposed to be his first Gathering (the first Gathering that had happened since he became an apprentice), but his brothers went, and brought back the news: Rosecub, now Rosetail, had joined the Northern Islands. Furious, they had disowned their blood sister for not being loyal enough to Southern Snow.
Filled with hope, Wintercub decided to sneak out one night to try to convince Rosetail to come back. However, he had managed to walk the hour-long trip to the border, and was just about to cross it when the moonlight patrol came forth with Thrushleap and Goldenfox at the head. Thinking that he also wanted to leave, they disowned him as well. Thrushcub slowly became bitter and frustrated at this turn of events in his life, and slipped away from the social circle altogether and into the shadows. Instead, he devoted himself to training and becoming a good solider in the hopes that one day wolves would start to respect him for his skills if they would not respect him for his personality.
WARRIORHOOD
Wintercub passed his assessment with ease, and was named Wintermaple not long after. However, he continued to remain a cold-hearted, reserved, judgmental wolf who had a hard outer shell. His brothers' way of thinking slowly sank into his brain, and he began to think like them: whoever wasn't loyal enough to Southern Snow, meaning that they distracted themselves from their duties by getting mates, straying across the border, or doing whatever else was not worthy of being part of the Greatest Pack Ever. Loyalty was everything. He began to judge others harshly, and worked harder than ever to prove his own loyalty, and hopefully gain his brotherhood back with Thrushleap and Goldenfox.
Later in his life, Goldenfox was slain by a fox, leaving Thrushleap depressed. For some reason unknown to Wintermaple, Thrushleap became even more hostile to him (perhaps because both of them were on the patrol that witnessed Goldenfox's death), and the two brothers officially stopped talking. Wintermaple broke off his connections with Rosetail, despite her protests at every Gathering. Gradually, he withdrew himself from everyone again, fighting his hardest in battles and taking his anger out on his enemies, then bottling it up until the next skirmish came.
CO-ALPHAHOOD
It came to an extreme surprise when Ryespark announced Wintermaple's new position. The secondary co-alpha had been slain in battle, and a new one was needed. This gave him a completely new thought: they cared. He had succeeded. He was loyal after all. It almost felt like a rebirth to the young soldier; Wintermaple nearly burst out in happiness, not only from getting the position, but knowing that there were wolves out there who liked him being in Southern Snow, even if they didn't show it. Sure, he would have to work to get actual respect, but it was a new start; a new chance; a new life.
From there, many things changed. He found life long friends. He even had a crush once, and managed to make friends with her. His past thoughts about extreme loyalty had been cast away as he was plunged into a whole area of life he had never experienced before, and had scorned earlier: romance.
During his co-alphaship, however, he was visited by Fleshspark, when he went to seek advice from SparkPack about the greencough epidemic. Southern Snow had not had nurse wolves for many moons, and Fleshspark's words made the young wolf start to think that everyone (including him) was being too dependent upon their ancestors. They weren't even bothering to send a healer. Everything that happened seemed to be SparkPack's doing. And a lot of wolves seemed to think that SparkPack was punishing Southern Snow by sending the sickness during winter, and during a time when they didn't have a nurse.
Even worse, Ryespark died because of the greencough, and Thunderwood took his place, rising to Thunderspark. Thunderspark was sickly as well, but not as much, and, being a plant wolf, managed to scrape by by using his photosynthetic powers to produce energy for himself. Wintermaple thus was promoted to lead co-alpha.
Wintermaple began to think things were happening just because of nature. There was no way SparkPack could be so unreasonable. Each day, things were getting worse and worse. Wolves' powers were diminishing. The only "fit" soldiers they had were the plant wolves, which, during the time, weren't many. And so his doubts continued, and he even began to wonder if SparkPack had abandoned them, and they should thus start to be more independent.
Thunderspark, meanwhile, was not proving to be a good leader. His co-alpha skills, even then, were mediocre at best, and with the condition of the Pack deteriorating, his faith and confidence decayed with it. Soon, he fell into a depression, refusing to leave his den, and lying in it for days on end, requesting the co-alphas to bring him food. Wintermaple and the other co-alpha was forced to lead the Pack on their own, holding ceremonies and making plans.
One night, Thunderspark approached the two co-alphas with weary eyes. "I'm taking a break," he said. "I'm... I'll go be gone for a while, okay? Watch over the Pack for me." And with that, he hobbled into the blizzard.
Wintermaple kept to himself the fact that he'd actually more or less stopped believing in SparkPack. They would have to take matters into their own paws now. It wasn't like their ancestors were helping. They didn't even contact him when he went to their sacred place. Frustrated, Wintermaple could only helplessly watch his Packmates suffer and die.
ALPHAHOOD
Thunderspark never came back. And so Wintermaple desperately pondered what to do. Should he appoint himself leader? What if Thunderspark came back? Where was he, anyway? These were the questions one asked the SparkPack, but they were dead to Wintermaple... right? A small part of him wasn't ready to give up on his ancestors yet. He'd believed in them all his life. To test his thoughts, Wintermaple traveled to the Sparkpool once more to see if SparkPack would talk to him. And they did appear, with a surprise-- two wolves approached him with two new lives. It was so sudden, Wintermaple almost thought it was the DullPack manipulating him-- but it was reality, and within one night Wintermaple became the new alpha. The Pack needed him, his ancestors said, and Thunderspark was no fit alpha.
It almost came as a relief; one, SparkPack hadn't given up on them (and most importantly, him) completely, and they were ready to give him authority. He had been annoyed by the fact that many wolves refused to listen to him, and still followed Thunderspark, who had ditched them and disappeared (again, too much dependence upon someone). Now, he feels confident to lead the wolves, if they would listen to him. And under his authority, they manged to pull through the epidemic.
And so begins his life as Winterspark, leader of Southern Snow.
✣ ✣ Abilities/Powers ✣ ✣
Winterspark's strongest powers revolve around his Kheimokinesis, which is the ability to manipulate and control winter. For obvious reasons, his powers are strongest during the coldest season. A few applications include:
MAJOR POWERS
-Arctic manipulation (can shape, create, and manipulate coldest areas of the natural world)
-Circadean manipulation** (turning the earth's axis, causing winter)
-Blizzard conjugation
-Avalanche creation
MINOR POWERS
-Cold weather manipulation (lowering temperatures, freezing, etc.) of a certain, concentrated area
-Freezing someone's body part with his bites (i.e. a leg, someone's tail, etc.)
-Snow creation
-Creating ice out of the moisture of air
-Natural ability to survive in extremely cold temperatures
-Glaciokinesis/Cryokinesis (manipulating ice)
*Note: lowering temperatures can also be devastating for his own Packmates if they were to step into the area that has the lowered temperature. They may also be killed/injured with a blizzard.
**Takes extreme amounts of energy.
