FINCHSPARK
39 | MALE | WESTERN SKY | ALPHA
APPEARANCE »
Larger picture credits: Lineart Here
Upon first appearance, you wouldn't assume that this wolf was the Alpha of a pack. Finch isn't a very large wolf in terms of muscle, nor does he honestly look smart enough. He always has a goofy look on his face or a flirtatious smirk, but he is pretty good looking. His body itself just looks more built for climbing and leaping, two pairs of strong legs, a long tail for balance, and small paws that are easier to catch small surfaces with. His legs are somewhat longer, yet he isn't much larger than any average wolf. Surprisingly enough, the only other part of him that is quite defined and looks strong just by looking is his jaws. No matter his personality, Finch is known by many as a wolf with a strong bite. Once he latches on, he does not let go.
In regards to his appearance other than muscle and size, Finch has a dark-brown coat that honestly resembles the color of dirt or mud. In addition to that, he has red markings over his body in different areas. His lower jaw is red, as well as two rings around the top of his muzzle connecting to the bottom. The outside of his ears are also red, except slightly brighter, and he has a ring of red patches around his neck. On both of his shoulders there are four patches of red that seem to have a certain pattern to them that are identical on both sides, yet, as far as anyone knows, they don't mean anything. His legs all have two red stripes around them right on his "knees" and there are four red rectangle-like stripes above his tail on his rear. Finally, his tail has many thin stripes that wrap all the way around it going down the full length of his tail.
Last but not least, one part of him that catches some off-guard is his eyes. The rest of his body is covered in darker colors that blend together and match each other in an eye-pleasing combination. Yet his eyes are a very vibrant green that stands out against the red and green. They always seem to have a shine to them and have mixes of both lighter and darker greens in them.

POWERS »
Breed: Rock
Minor
Finch really has a variety of different minor powers, some of which seem to have different levels of sorts with their own side-effects. For example, he is able to make rocks that he is looking at move. What I mean by levels is determined by the size of what he is trying to move. If he looks at a small pebble and makes it move, it isn't going to effect him in any way. But if he looks at a large boulder and tries to make it move, it is harder and makes him become quite tired depending on how hard he tries and focuses.
Another of his minor powers which also has those sort of levels is being able to sort of "summon" rocks from under the ground. Think of those shows where a character stomps on the ground and a rock comes up out of it and hovers in front of them for them to kick forward. Finch can do that, but he is able to control how large the rock he pulls up is. If he brings up just a small rock, it is more tiring to smack it forward than it is to actually summon it. But if he brings up a large rock, it is difficult to do both.
Major
Some might think that a useful major power would be one you could use to attack or injure others, but that is not the way that Finch uses his. His major power is being able to make a sort of wall of rock come up from the ground. He can do a variety of things with this wall of rock, but all of it causes him to become very tired and weak once it is over. He could make this wall of rock into just that, a wall, perhaps used as a defense against other attacks. He could also make this wall bend and form around him and some other wolves, almost like a defensive dome. Also, should he ever feel the need, he could bring this wall up and then allow it to fall forward onto his enemies, possibly crushing them beneath the rocks, but it isn't likely that he would ever do that. He is only able to keep up this wall for as long as he has energy in him to use. If he starts to get extremely tired and can't stand it anymore, the wall will crumble and fall into just a pile of rocks.

PERSONALITY »
Much like Western Sky is known for, Finch is a very optimistic and kind-hearted wolf who prefers to avoid violence whenever possible. Unlike some other wolves, Finch cherishes every life and believes that no wolf deserves to die unless they have done something that is forever unforgivable. He tries his best to give the benefit of the doubt to every situation unless it has a for sure answer rather than immediately put the blame on someone. He has always been one to offer forgiveness to those that have done a crime against him unless it was something completely life changing. Granted, he doesn't always trust those that have done something wrong, but he still tries to accept them.
Setting aside all of the official Alpha side of him, Finch doesn't seem like a wolf who would be an Alpha. For one, he is a flirtatious boy who enjoys meeting new females and loves seeing them get flustered over him. Some wolves think that he is this way just because he likes being a flirt and wants to be a heartbreaker, but that isn't the truth at all. In reality, he somehow seems to understand female emotions better than most males do, so when he sees them get embarrassed and excited, he knows that he is making their day better. He just likes bringing a smile to others' faces when he can tell that they are down.
Which also seems to be another quirk of his. He's always been able when someone else is upset, even if they are good at hiding it. No one has ever really been able to explain this, but he is just able to tell based on looking at someone. There are a few who have noticed it, but he always peers directly into the eyes of those he talks to and looks at, almost as if he is looking right through them right down to their heart. One could say that his own gorgeous eyes can see the emotions in the eyes of others. The only issue with this is that, as a very sympathetic wolf, he wants to help when he sees that someone is upset, even if they don't want help. He will often pester someone to allow him to help them until he either is able to help them or realizes that there is nothing he can do at that moment, at which point he steps back.

HISTORY »
Previous name: Finchflight
There are some secrets that have the chance of never being discovered. Some that didn't have to become secrets, but did so because of one person and their ego. One such secret was Finch's birth as a whole, or at least the story behind it.
Back then, Western Sky's previous Alpha, a male by the name of Darkspark, was known for something very similar to Finch. He was very sympathetic and forgiving, always seeing the better in the wolves around him. He was more of a calm wolf who enjoyed making others around him happy and keeping his pack thriving. He never lost his temper or let himself lose control of a situation, always keeping his emotions in check. One thing he was also known for was having a lot of friends, both in the other packs and outside of them. Before he became the Alpha of Western Sky, he had gone on many adventures and made many friends. Not having been originally born in Western Sky, he had friends on the outside from his puphood. One such friend was a lovely she-wolf named Karma.
She had been his friend for a very long time and was one of the wolves he was closest too. He sometimes saw her at the edge of the pack territory, but they never had much interaction since he was the new Alpha at the time. It wasn't until the two of them saw each other and were both alone that they let loose. They hadn't seen each other in so long that they couldn't help but embrace. One thing that they both revealed after a little while was that they loved one another, which was also when they...*ahem* proved these thoughts. Though, after that encounter, they didn't see each other again for a while. He would go out to the border to see her, but she was never there.
During this time, there were some things going on in the pack. Food was disappearing from their storage. Some wolves were coming back from patrols injured, saying that they were attacked by a wolf that they hadn't seen any of the features of. Wanting to get to the bottom of this, Darkspark spent one night staying up the whole time, keeping a watchful eye out on the pack's food. It took multiple nights to finally catch the thief, but he was shocked to find that the thief was Karma. He tried to confront her when he realized it was her, but she bolted for it.
After that he didn't see her again for a few weeks. That was until a patrol from the border came dragging her into the Stronghold, stating that she was being chased off by another pack's patrol for stealing food and ended up in the Western Sky territory. She then used the innocent card on them all. She told the pack that she was expecting pups, but that she, since she started expecting, had been very weak and had trouble hunting for herself, so she had no choice but to steal food. Angered at this, Darkspark wanted to kick her out, believing she was lying about expecting just so that she could get away with it. But Dark was kind and didn't do this. He allowed her to stay, but he kept an eye out on her. Before long, she had grown in size and now truly did have trouble getting around. He realized that she wasn't lying and that, if he assumed correctly, it was his pups that she was carrying. Normally this would have made him very proud, but he realized the issue quickly.
She was causing even more trouble in the pack, pointing fingers at any wolf when something bad happened, spreading rumors about the other packs, and also setting up acts to make herself look trustworthy, such as hiding prey and then saying that a pack member had done it, but she caught them. When Dark caught onto this, he realized that he couldn't be proud, nor could he act as though he had known her before she joined the pack. If everyone knew that he knew her personally, they would assume that her and him were together in causing all of the drama in the pack. His pride taking over, he made the announcement that the expecting female was to stay only until she had the pups and only long enough for the pups to get big enough to eat meat. Everyone was surprised by the sudden act of cruelness from their usually kind Alpha, but no one questioned his judgement. Karma, unhappy about his wanting to get rid of her, started to cause more drama, only trying to get Dark involved. She started getting close to him, going to his den during the day to talk to him for a long period of time about nothing to make others assume things. She, as he came to find out, tried to make others think that Dark was being secretive with his pack and tried to get the rank of Alpha for herself.
Finally, when the pups were born, no one had to worry about Karma any longer, for she passed away during the process. Dark, knowing that he was likely the secret father of these pups, showed up when they were born as a responsible and kind Alpha should. He acted like he was just there to show his approval in the birth of new pack members, but really he felt obligated and responsible over them. There were three of them, all healthy. Luckily enough, two of them looked very similar to their mother, while the final one was a mix of both Dark and Karma. At least it wasn't completely obvious.
Redpup, Nightpup, and Finchpup were very cheerful and lively additions to the pack. The three brothers were very playful and happy pups, running around the Stronghold with smiles on their faces and always made everyone's day brighter. The three grew up together under the secret watchful eye of the Alpha. There were some who noticed Dark's interest in the three brothers, but no one ever assumed it was because he was their father. When the time came for the pups to train, each of them was given a wolf to train under based on their skills. Dark, seeing something special in him, chose to mentor Finchcub himself. This was odd for an Alpha to do, but, as usual, no one questioned Dark's motives. He was just an Alpha who wanted to train a young wolf for once. This was really just a way for him to get close to one of his sons, as well as the other two when the brothers would train together.
When they got older, Redleg, Nightnose, and Finchflight were relatively well-known for their personalities and their skills. As to be expected, though, Finchflight always seemed to be the most outgoing of the pups and was always checking on everyone else in the pack, memorizing all of their names as soon as he could. Beyond this point, things were pretty normal. Finch and his brothers had trained one or two young cubs themselves. But Dark, unknown to anyone else, had caught a sickness that didn't truly show its face until he was nearly too weak to stand. During the event that the Co-Alpha at the time had passed away, Dark summoned Finch to his den and had a private conversation with him, as well as the secondary Co-Alpha, about him wanting Finch to take over the position. So, announced by the Co-Alpha, Finchflight became the next secondary Co-Alpha. About a week or two after this happened, Finch found himself summoned to Dark's den one morning, alone. This was when Dark finally revealed to Finch, and Finch only, that he was the father of the three brothers, but that he didn't want anyone to know about it. As surprised as he was and as much as he wanted to tell his brothers, he agreed to Dark's promise. That night, Dark passed away.
From that point on it was pretty self-explanatory. The Co-Alpha took over Dark's position, Finch became the primary Co-Alpha. Not too long after, the new Alpha was killed during a large dispute, Finch taking their place as Finchspark. Even to this day Finch is still the only wolf who knows who his true father was.
