The war had taken a toll on my pack. I was left with some of my soldiers dead, and three were seriously injured. Sootstem had foolishly tried to bite the neck of the rumored new Co-Alpha of Eastern Rock's neck and had ended up with a badly burned muzzle and mouth. Luckily for her, she was a plant wolf, but she would live with those terrible scars for the rest of her life. Rubblecreek, one of my smaller soldiers, had talon marks that crossed his spine after that same wolf had air lifted him and hurled him into the rocky wall, where he lost an eye (thank Spark Pack). Hailfire was lucky, as the worst he suffered from was a shredded ear and a heavily scarred face and chest. That scary bird dragon wolf thing had been distracted before she could get a hold of Hailfire.
I nearly killed my traitor sister, but that crazy Chronospark had side slammed me and would've killed me had it not been for my Co-Alpha Slipstream. A small smile crossed my maw at the thought of him. With Chronospark's death, I knew that brown male wolf, Bloodied Oakeye (was that his name?) would take over. A small part of me prayed to Spark Pack that he wouldn't follow in Chronospark's bloody path of power and destruction.
I dug my nails into the Sun Tree's bark and made my way to the top. I was no plant wolf, but I still loved to lounge and feel the warm sun on my fur. I closed my blue eyes and sighed sadly.
Goldenthroat's large paws twitched in his sleep in the same wild way his eyes were searching for something behind his closed eyelids. He was dreaming of hunting, which he should be doing in reality, and he was close to catching his prey. His talons became unsheathed and he swung his paw in a half-hearted swipe. He woke with a jolt as he felt the sensation that he was falling. Luckily he was still wedged between a branch and the trunk of the tree that he stuck himself in before he drifted to sleep. He groggily looked around, trying to figure out why he woke up if he was still in the same place he started. He noticed a figure climbing up the tree and recognized it as his alpha, Bluespark. It wasn't hard to distinguish who it was due to her elaborate markings and coloring. Her climbing must have woken me he thought to himself as he cocked his head, watching her ascend into the tree. As he watched her he was thinking of how pretty she was but how out of place she looked up in the foliage. He smiled at the thought of how comfortable Western Sky pack was in the trees. He rolled himself over to his paws and shook himself out, a few small feathers and strands of fur drifting from his body. Goldenthroat watched her lower herself and close her eyes, knowing it would be rude to bother her, but he would rather greet her than she wake up to him sneaking by. The copper colored male hopped his way over and closed the distance between them, trying to make as little movement as possible so she didn't wake up the same way he did.
Ruffling his feathers as he adjusted his wings against his flanks, he cleared his throat to announce his presence if she didn't already notice him. He stood about 2 wolf lengths away, not wanting to get any closer without an invitation. "Afternoon, Bluespark" he cooed, trying to keep his voice down and non-alarming.
"Afternoon, Bluespark" ever so slowly, my lids parted in order to reveal my sea blue windows. The sudden presence of another's electrical energy caused me to raise me head. I didn't bother looking, as I knew that it was Goldenthroat. "Greetings Goldenthroat." I replied to my soldier as I slowly got to my paws and shook the figurative heaviness out of my fur.
I had noticed that he had kept his distance, either out of fear or politeness, but I doubted it was because of the former. But just in case, I told him, "Why so far away? I'm not an Eastern Rock wolf you know, I don't bite." I chuckled as I moved to a sitting position and curled my long fluffy tail around my paws. "So what brings you over here? Do you have anything to report to me or a question to ask?"
The male laughed shortly at the alpha's Eastern Rock remark and shook his head, smiling. "I didn't want to scare you" he said as he approached. He closed the gap between them with careful steps, his paws in a straight line one after the other. He sat near her, facing outwards the same as she was with the sun warming his pelt. "And I just figured I should come say 'hi'" he continued, his feathered tail curling over his paws the same way hers was. He realized he didn't really have anything to talk to her about and felt dumb for approaching her, but now he was here and it would be weird to just get up and leave. He looked at her and realized she looked a little sad and that she was up here alone, probably to think to herself. "Are you okay?" he asked bluntly, staring at her with his bright, round eyes. His ears flicked around at every little noise and it took some concentration to focus just on Bluespark as he waited for her to respond.
"I didn't want to scare you" I gave the avian lupine a warm smile and a nod of my regal crown. "I appreciate your manners." I simply told him. "And I just figured I should come say 'hi'" he had continued. I allowed some coils of electricity to breach from my fur as my tail wagged slowly to display my happiness.
"Are you okay?" I stopped the swaying motion of my tail and looked back at him for a brief moment before I hung my head, turned my back to the avian hybrid and stared blankly over the horizon. "No." I sighed. "I'm beginning to feel ashamed for what we did to the East... all but wiping out their pack. There have always been four packs, North, South, East, and West. What would happen if there was only North, South, and West?"
I paused to allow Goldenthroat to voice is thoughts before continuing. "Were they vile and cruel? Yes, but that didn't mean that we should've gotten rid of the innocent wolves in that pack as well as the evildoers." I kept my head below my shoulders and put together a thought to send to the male soldier behind me. 'Sometimes, I don't know if I can be the strong alpha that Western Sky needs'. I didn't want any prying ears to hear my confession, and I trusted the golden soldier to not tell anyone. "I just hope that their new alpha doesn't continue of this path of evil and destruction." Goldenthroat was feeding off of Bluespark's energy, his feathers fluffing slightly. He was smiling warmly until she began speaking of Eastern Rock, and his smile instantly disappeared. He felt the same way as she, and was glad he wasn't the only one. He should have figured he wasn't alone with these feelings in Western Sky. Out of all the packs, he figured they had the most empathy. "I feel the same way, Bluespark" he replied to her words about feeling ashamed. He approached her and touched her shoulder with his maw briefly, hoping to comfort her. "Were they vile and cruel? Yes, but that didn't mean that we should've gotten rid of the innocent wolves in that pack as well as the evildoers." He listened to her speak again, and nodded slowly with her words. He shifted on his haunches, ruffling his feathers as a comfort to himself. His golden eyes were at first fixed out on the view they had from the tree, but he turned his gaze to his alpha.
"Well, perhaps if they show that they have changed their ways they could be welcomed back. Not all the other packs are as warm and welcoming as we are, though." he said honestly, shrugging his shoulders slightly. He was not expecting the words he received straight from the mind of Bluespark and raised slightly in surprise, averting his gaze from her. He felt that staring at her while she spoke like this was fairly intimate and he didn't want to offend her.
His gaze avoiding hers, he puffed his chest out slightly and wagged his tail against hers. "You are strong in a lot of ways" he started, smiling to himself. "Don't doubt yourself" he spoke quietly now, catching on to her worry of prying ears. At her last statement he cocked his head and finally looked back to her, his eyes blinking slowly as he thought of the horrible actions of Eastern Rock at the whim of their former leader.
Welcome to Compass Ross Packs territories. These wolves are... different than those of Earth. They live in a different realm, and the only way in or out is through the Transport wolves.
What are these wolves, you ask? These wolves have magic on their fur and the elements in their blood. These wolves have power. But will they use them for good, or for evil? That is up to you.
